Horizontal chicken drinker nipple, installed into the side wall of a drum or bottle. Chooks 'bite' the nipple and microcup reduces drips. We have found chooks take to these a little slower than normal nipples but they do use them. Silkies and Polish etc may struggle due to targetting issues ( cannot see as well as some) . The microcup can have some water on it which can help chickens learn how to use the nipple and some drink from the leftovers on the microcup.
One can install a number of these into a drum, and with a specially designed adaptor (HSNADAPT) one can install them into a 'esky" as well. The use in an esky is a good idea we think, keeping your water cool. We tried to buy esky's in for sale but we cannot compete with Aldi and coles for bulk purchases. Coles has eskys for sale (willow-Australian made) fairly regularly. Just in case someone doesn't know an esky is Australian for Cooler box.
Install so that the height allows poultry to bite down or a little from the side, suit about 5 chooks per nipple, assume about 1m pressure (head) for these nipples .
Picture shows nipple installed and also shows installed in an esky--needs the adaptor. In hindsite one should really install the nipple lower for more water but it depends what you want to do, multiple nipples for multiple height poultry, its fairly flexible.
When installing, don't overtighten the Horizontal chicken drinker nipple, leaving a thread or three untightened is ok and probably better than tightening so much that you may "thread" the nipple or split the plastic of your bucket or drum. Take it easy.
We don't stock replacement internal parts for the nipple , much like other nipples.
Your Chooks will adapt to these chicken drinkers easily, but as usual for nipples, Silkies and Polish chooks and other "busy" Hairdo style chooks will struggle to target them as they cannot target so well with their "hairdo".
More for grown chickens rathr than chicks, and not really for ducks who want to duck their bills into water or at least have water flow over their eyes and nostrils with a high flow nipple.
